Docks

Something so grand and we take advantage of it daily! DOCKS! Could you imagine every time you get off your yacht or boat you would have to pull it up onto a beach of even scarier rocks! Whew thank goodness to the genius engineers who come up with docks! Here’s a little fun facts about the great dock! Hope you enjoy…

The earliest known docks were those discovered in an ancient Egyptian dating from 2500 BC located on the Red Sea coast. Archaeologists also discovered anchors and storage jars near the site!

A dock from India dates back to 2400 BC and was located away from the main currant to avoid deposition of silt. Oceanographers have observed that the ancient folks must have possessed great knowledge relating to all the tides in order to build such a dock on the ever-shifting course of the Sambariti! This is the earliest known dock found in the world equipped to berth and service ships.

Heres a cool sign we made for motor yacht “Due Process”

It is speculated that these early engineers studied tidal movements and their effects on brick-built structures, since the walls are brick.  The engineers built a trapezoidal structure. Now a days we just call a company and have them built us a dock haha! We have come a long way folks!
